Bipasha Basu was born to a Bengali family in Delhi, where she lived till the age of eight in Pampoosh Enclave, Nehru Place and studied at Apeejay High School. Her family then moved to Kolkata. Basu, who describes herself as a tomboy, was pampered as a kid and was very naughty. She was fondly called 'Lady Goonda' in her school as everyone was scared of her short and commanding personality.
Bipasha rose to stardom in the Hindi film industry with the film ‘Ajnabee’, and ever since, has churned out many hits. She has been endowed with a bevy of aphorisms, the most popular ones being ‘bold’, ‘unconventional’, ‘sexy’ and the like.
In 2012, she was seen in movies like Players, Jodi Breakers and Raaz 3. In the New Year, she has lined up for release English film Singularity, Hindi horror drama Aatma and Race 2.
