The Light: Swami Vivekananda Movie Review

By: Krishna Jani
Rating : 3 (3/5)

Review: It is not often that biopic movies of great Indian philosophers and saints are made. However, Swami Vivekananda has been such an inspiration that time and again, the movie directors try and make a film on him. Remember the 1994 film on Swami Vivekananda starring Mithun Chakraborthy as Vivekananda's guru Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Now on 150th birth anniversary of this great Indian monk, a movie has been made again on his life by director Utpal Sinha which is produced by Tri Colour Productions Pvt. Ltd.

Time and again the thoughts and preachings of Swami Vivekananda has inspired the youth all over the world and therefore, this movie is a must watch for all. The movie encaptures the entire life of this great monk right from his childhood days as Narendra Nath Dutta to him meeting his spiritual mentor Shree Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and later becoming his disciple and his tredding on the path of spiritual learning.

The movie was specailly screened for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The movie is said to encourage and inspire the youth towards success and spiritual enlightenment.

Ghanchakkar Movie Review

Rating : 3 (3/5)

Review: From Aamir and No One Killed Jessica of Rajkumar Gupta that gained maximum praise this time he thought to create a comedy of errors for all.

Starring Vidya Balan (Neetu Athray) and Emraan Hashmi (Sanjay Athray) as husband and wife this movie is going to take you on a roller coaster ride. Sanjay had recently robbed a bank thinking he would never do any more crime in life. He had two more people to whom he said he would later give their share as it wouldn't be safe. After two months when the other partners return to ask him about their share he refuses to even recognize them. Nor does he remember the money.

Is this a memory loss problem or a plot to not give the money to anyone else. His wife Neetu on the other hand is insane and does really strange things. She makes the life of the three very difficult. Watch the movie to know how? Does Sanjay have a plan or he has actually lost his memory.

Spend this weekend with family and friends and watch the super comedy movie.

Review of The Heat Movie

Rating : 2.5 (2.5/5)

Review: The Heat is a action comedy that is a complete entertainer. It is a hilarious buddy cop comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Sandra Bullock is an FBI agent Ashburn, she is a very committed workaholic and has no life of her own. While Melissa McCarthy is Detective Shannon Mullins who is a vulgar loose cannon Boston detective. Fate brings both to work together on a case regarding a Russian drug kingpin.

Both of them have never worked with partners before and find it difficult to get along with each other. Ashburn is a strict cop and she is impeccable in her job. However, that results into an egoistic personality who doesn't gel along with other people around and therefore, left alone always. Melissa too is not the most friendly kind of person to be with either. However, the turn of events force them to work in coordination to pull down a drug mafia in Boston who is causing lot of trouble.

The movie is surely fun to watch and the one to catch up this weekend.

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani Movie Review

Rating: 3.5 Stars(3.5/5)

Review: This film is a nice mix of music, superb star cast, fun, craziness, comedy, love and everything in between.  The story of the film is based on four of its main characters and their life’s journey from the age of 21 to 30 years played by Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur (of Aashiqui 2 fame) and Kalki. All the four of them go out for a holiday and the events happening thereafter frames the story line of the film.

The movie has amazing upbeat numbers and the first part is full of fun, frolic and comedy. It is like riding a rollercoaster and having fun along with the on screen characters. There’s bit of friendship, bit of self discovery, and as they life’s a journey, not a destination; the movie explores much more in all its characters. Ranbir has acted par excellence and is the savior of this movie as the story line is bit like DDLJ.

The amazing songs like ‘Batameez Dil’ and ‘Balaam Pichkaari’ are awesome to watch in theatres. This movie is surely something to catch up with friends and family this week. Happy watching!

The Hangover Part III Movie Review - With no Hangover this time!

Rating: 3 Stars(3/5)

Review: You will get to see the Wolfpack again in The Hangover Part III. In this movie the main characters are Zach Galifianakis as Alan his friends Bradley Cooper as Phil, Ed Helms as Stu and Justin Bartha as Dough. Alan has gone off the deep end so his friends decide to take him back to Arizona to the Rehab for treatment. On their way they are caught by a gangster John Goodman as Marshall who kidnaps Dough and he said he would be freed only if they get him Ken Jeong as Mr. Chow.

In this par there is no bachelor party, no forgotten night no wedding to attend and no hangover to make this more funny and hilarious. But still this movie is filled with loads of laughter to make you hold your stomach while laughing. This is more of an action adventure movie rather than a comedy. But still these characters have managed to keep you sitting tight on your seats. Watch the movie now and find out what happens on their journey to find Chow and how will they get back their friend Dough.

Every character in this movie has done their best and this movie is much different from the first 2 parts. Spend this weekend with friends and watch this wonderful comedy movie.

Go Goa Gone Movie Review : India’s first Zombie Comedy

Rating: 3 Stars(3/5)

Review: We are witnessing a kind of change in the films that Bollywood is making these days and Go Goa Gone is just one proof of it. As the title itself says that the movie seems to be unusual and yes, so it is! Its Bollywood’s first ever Zombie Comedy movie.  The movie is a good mixture of adventure, action, and thrill in the back drop of superb comedy.

Go Goa Gone is a fun roller coaster filled with laughter and surprises. Both Kunal Khemu and Vir Das are the bad boys who are looking to escape the reality. One is duped by his girl friend while the other loses a job over a stupid grudge. In comes the third friend at rescue, Tiwari is a good guy and both the bad boys pile on him and off they go to Goa to have some fun in their life. Once they reach Goa the fun starts, they are invited to a rave party at a private island. As they get on the island they are encountered by strange creatures that are like dead man walking. The Directors Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap have told their stories in a way that fill your hearts with emotions. Let me tell you a bit of each of the stories by each of these directors.

He tells the story of an urban married couple played by Rani Mukherjee and Randeep Hooda, who are trying to deal with their bad sex life. Rani’s office colleague (Saqib Saleem) who is a homosexual unfolds the secrets of their married life. When she invites him home for dinner it is then she knows the truth and is all heartbroken. Some great songs of Lata Mageshkar are heard, fitted well in the scenes.

He has picked the story of  a lower-middle class man Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s where his dreams come back to him.He wants to do big in life and has done almost everything fromemu farming to even applying for security jobs. He was a well known theatre actor in his natice place Sangli. And then suddenly he is offered a job by a hassled director at the last moment when he just gets into the sets of a film set.

Her story is of a school going boy who wants to be a dancer like Katrina Kaif. But he is forced to play football in school by his strict father. He is so fond of Katrina Kaif that he dreams to dance with her some day. He dresses up like a girl but is made of fun of by the people. With the help of his sister he then begin to plan out on how to fulfill his dream. And the day comes when his father comes to know of this. Will he accept this or force him to move in another direction?

This is a strange story of boy Vineet Kumar Singh who travels from Allahabad to Mumbai to meet Amitabh Bachchan. Not for the reason because he is his fan but to fulfill the last wish of his dying father. He wanted Amitabh Bachchan to eat the pickle his mother made, because his father believed that if he had the pickle tasted by Amitabh Bachchan then he would live longer. Aashiqui 2 Movie Review – The Musical Love Story

Rating: 3 Stars(3/5)

Review: Mohit Suri has made this story mixing a few old and new stories. Though it is said to be a sequel of Aashiqui made way back in 1990 with Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal but the story is poles apart from the old one. It has a touch of the story of the movie Abhiman.

Aashiqui 2 movie has a rock star Rahul Jaykar (Aditya) and a bar singer Aarohi Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor. Rahul is very much addicted to liquor and barely cares about his career falling off. He has been one of the top niche singers and has had a huge fan following. He got very upset after he was taken out of the music concert. When he goes to drink at a bar he meets Aarohi who sings to earn her living and wants to be a big time singer too. He loved her singing and her voice and helps her by nourishing her singing and grooming her.

She moves high up like a star in the field of singing and he is nowhere to be seen. The two fall in love but he is trapped with alcohol all the time. His career has almost finished. Will they still continue to love each other or they will depart their ways.

A love Saga that must be seen by people who are fond of love and romance filled moments. Watch the movie this weekend and who knows your love may be waiting for you next door.
