Mumbai Mirror: Ride into the Shady Underworld, Drugs and Seedy locales of Mumbai City

Rating: 2 Stars(2/5)

Review: We’ve had plenty of cop movies ever since Salman started the trend in Dabaang. Mumbai Mirror is also a story about one such Cop and like Salman Khan’s trade mark dialogue in Bodyguard, the hero of this film, Sachin Joshi also uses the dialogue “Iss duniya mein mujhe ek hi cheez se darr lagta hai, ke mujhe kisi bhi cheez se darr nahi lagta.”

The story of the movie goes like Abhijeet Patil (Sachin Joshi) is a cocky, brave and overconfident inspector. He is intolerant about disrespect of women in any form. He’s posted in Mumbai and there he comes across the Mumbai’s biggest Bhai ‘Shetty’ (Prakash Raj). Shetty runs many dance bars across the city and is also involved in other illegal activities. Our Inspector Patil is however not a clean chit policeman, he has his own weaknesses. He succumbs to one night stands, bets on the cricket matches, and allows Shetty to open bars. Patil is supported by his uncle ACP Gaitonde (Mahesh Manjrekar) and therefore, he manages to escape from all the teeny weenie temptations he gives into every now and then.

Patil allows Shetty to open a bar in his area but soon shuts it down when he sees bar dancers in it. He is intolerant about disrespect to the women because his father was a bad cop who used to drink and hit his mother. Hence begins the war between the cop and the bhai of Mumbai. Tables are turned and Patil gets into a mess due to his own doings and loses his job and respect. Suddenly the ego in him is hurt and he fights back to gain back his dignity and job.  The movie is all about how he gets into the deep shit and later pulls up himself out of it. Apart from the action, the film also has a bit of humor in the dialogues such as 'jeeto toh rokda, warna Prem Chopra' said by shetty while trying to evoke fear in the people.

The film is hence a portrayal of the seedy locales of Mumbai and touches upon the scandals of bar dancers, drugs and the underworld. If you’re looking for passing your time then the movie can do its bit to entertain you.
