There is no doubt that after Diwali and Eid, the best release phase for the Hindi cinema has turned out to be Christmas.
In fact the 100 crore club was inaugurated by Aamir Khan via GHAJINI during Christmas 2008!
A year later, during Christmas, Aamir followed it up with 3 IDIOTS, and again set a milestone by crossing the 200 crore mark, and in the end count the film netted 202 crore to be precise, a record that is still unbroken!
Just last Christmas, Shahrukh Khan's DON 2 saw a great run netting around 110 crore from India.
However, as things stand, Salman Khan's DABANGG 2, which is the 2012 Christmas release (though it will open on 21st December), appears to be a hot contender for recalibrating the 202 crore record set by 3 IDIOTS. As may be recalled, this Eid, Salman Khan had nearly reached there via EK THA TIGER, but fell short by just a couple of crores.
Well, we are as excited as the average cinegoer to know if Salman does manage to cross 3 IDIOTS, and whether or not the year will end on a rollicking note!
